Choosing Your Nursery Room; Many of us don’t have more than one room in the home that would be suitable for the baby nursery. however, if you do have a choice of rooms choose the one closest to yours. The less mileage you have to cover in the middle of the night the better.
Once you have set your budget and made the major decisions regarding the baby room design, it is time to start shopping. Purchasing the baby bedding and furniture first usually works best since they are the two major design elements in the room. Once you have these items purchased, it is easier to pick out paint colors, wallpaper, art work, and other essential items like lamps and window treatments.
My sister designed her daughter’s nursery around an ocean theme and now only 18 months after that she has to redecorate. Unfortunately my niece did not like the ocean and fish thing and she seems to be really fond of all types of flowers and little princesses instead. However, this seems to be a change coming too soon for me.
The same goes for portable size cribs which can be great if you have limited square footage to work with. Hand painted and designer cribs are also options but expect to pay more for these baby room furniture pieces. On the upside, many of these beautiful cribs could easily become family heirlooms.
